Huawei Mate 10 Teased on YouTube, Rumored Codenames Revealed

Huawei officially unveiled the Mate 9 in November of last year with the impressive performance of the HiSilicon Kirin 960 SoC. It was launched alongside a Pro version as well as a Porsche Design variant for those who wanted a little more out of their smartphone. We went hands-on with it at CES earlier this year and then learned that they had already begun internal testing of Android Oreo on it in April. Thanks to a few recent leaks, it looks like the company is ramping up to unveil its successor, the Huawei Mate 10.

Sadly, we don't have any hardware details to speak of today, we are just seeing tidbits of the upcoming device making ripples throughout the Android community. During the weekend, Evan Blass revealed what his sources are telling him are the codenames of two Huawei Mate 10 devices will be. If true, the codename of the regular Mate 10 will be Marcel while the Pro version is being referred to as Blanc. So while this doesn't tell us much about the device itself, it does reveal a device name that we can look for in the future (in benchmark databases and such).

Continuing this trend, Roland Quandt published a tweet early this morning which linked to an unpublished YouTube video for the Huawei Mobile Deutschland YouTube channel. The video is in German, but it's simply a teaser for the new Kirin SoC from HiSilicon that the company will use in it. Sadly, they again are not revealing any information here and will likely just be using this video as a teaser for the device if they choose to publish it.

We have embedded the video above in case you want to check it out, but Huawei could decide to take the video down in the near future.
