A lot of people have a soft spot for the Moto X line from Motorola as it was the first new device the company released after it was acquired by Google. It seemed each iteration of the series got better and better, but then Lenovo acquired the company and the last devices we saw in the series seemed like spinoffs (Moto X Force, Moto X Style, Moto X Play). After taking a year off it seems like Lenovo may be ready to make their Moto X fans happy again with the Moto X4.
We've been hearing about the next Moto X for months. Details were first leaked back in May of this year when some alleged features like IP68 certification, 3D glass and more were shown in a picture. The it was rumored that the Moto X4 would be a new partner for Google's Project Fi MVNO service, and the first alleged renders of the device came out a month after that. While somewhat accurate, the way the Moto X4 looks didn't turn out exactly like those initial renders.
VentureBeat did report on the specs then too though. Claiming the device will come with the Snapdragon 630 SoC, 4GB of RAM, a 3,000mAh capacity battery and a 5.2″ 1080p display. Now, some details from its recent FCC filing seems to reveal some additional details that weren't known before. For example, previous leaks indicated the device would have a 5.2″ 1080p display, but that doesn't really tell us much about the size of the device itself.
The dimensional image included in the FCC filing says we should expect the Moto X4 to be 148mm tall and 73mm wide with a diagonal of 157mm from corner to corner. It also mentions support for CDMA, Bluetooth 5.0 LE, NFC and more. There's even mentioned of an included pair of earphones which match with previously leaked renders that show it will have a 3.5mm headphone port at the bottom right. There's also mention of a battery in the accessory list with a capacity of 2,810mAh.
