Xiaomi to Launch a New Selfie-Centric Device in India Next Week

After launching the bezel-less Mi Mix 2 in India just last month, Chinese smartphone OEM Xiaomi appears to be readying for yet another smartphone launch in the country. The company has started sending out press invites for a smartphone launch event which states that this will be a brand new series.

According to the press invite, the launch event will take place on November 2 in Delhi, however, the company didn't mention which device they will be launching at this event.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi has also shared a teaser on their MIUI forums which hints that this upcoming device will boast a selfie-centric camera and that it will ship with the latest version of Xioami's custom skin, MIUI 9.

While Xiaomi didn't reveal which device they are going to be unveiled on Nov 2, there are good chances that it could be the Mi Note 3, which was launched last month alongside the Mi Mix 2 in China. The Mi Note 3 is an upper mid-range device from Xiaomi, featuring a 5.5-inch display with the Snapdragon 660 octa-core SoC on the inside. It's also highly likely that we won't see the Mi Note 3 at all, and instead we'll just see a new device from a new series from Xiaomi.

Xiaomi is the fastest growing smartphone brand in India and is currently positioned at number 2 in the overall Indian smartphone market. The new launch comes just after the company launched its most expensive device to date in India in the form of the Mi Mix 2. This could be the signal that the company doesn't want to limit itself as just a maker of cheap, budget devices in India, but a full-fledged OEM, like Samsung, which has a wide range of smartphones in its lineup, targeting all segments.

With the official launch event just a week away, we likely won't have to wait long to find out what Xiaomi has in store for us.
