How to Beta Test EMUI 8.0 (Oreo-based) on the Honor 7X

Today Honor kicks off their beta program for the Honor 7X, which was our pick for Best Budget Phone recently. This program will allow users of the 7X to get early access Android 8.0 and EMUI 8.0 on their device. The beta program is currently available for France, Germany, Spain and Italy, but they're willing to open it up to other countries if there's interest. So if you have a 7X and you're not in France, Germany, Spain, or Italy, leave a comment below with your country and we'll make sure Honor knows about it and hopefully they can expand this program to other countries soon.

To join the program:

  1. Download/install the beta apk from the link below, on your Honor 7X
  2. Launch the beta app and login with your Huawei ID
  3. Go to Personal> Join the project> Project available

The beta build will then be pushed to your device via OTA software update.

EMUI 8.0 Features

Smarter

A new floating Navigation dock lets you perform frequently-used operations from anywhere on the screen. Newly added home screen shortcuts let you quickly access the app features you use most frequently. Simply touch and hold an app icon to display a shortcut menu.

Faster

AI-based optimizations deliver greater stability, fluidity, and speed. The system boots faster, videos are more fluid, and images thumbnails load rapidly even in huge volumes.

Safer

Enjoy enhanced protection for your system and data with new updates to system security.

Cooler

Use Portrait mode to effortlessly capture glossy, celebrity-worthy portrait shots with stylish bokeh effects.

If you'd like to become a beta tester, but the program is unavailable in your country, lets us know it the comment what country you're in. To talk about the Honor 7X, check out the 7X forums on XDA.
