MIUI 9 (8.5.11) for Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S & Redmi Note 5 Pro brings Android P-style UI changes

Two of Xiaomi's most popular Android smartphones were recently launched. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S was launched in China with MIUI 9/Android 8.1 Oreo. The Android Oreo-based MIUI update for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro leaked back in April. With the introduction of Android P, Xiaomi released a near-stock build of Android P for the Mi Mix 2S. While we still aren't sure what the next version of MIUI will look like, it appears that an upcoming version of MIUI 9 will bring a redesign to the lock screen, notifications, recent apps, quick settings, volume panel, and more. Version 8.5.11 of MIUI 9 has leaked online for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 & 2S (based on Android 8.0 Oreo) and Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro (based on Android 8.1 Oreo).

The screenshots above are from MIUI 9 (build 8.5.11) on the Mi Mix 2S. As you can see, there's a new design in a lot of system UI components. The Quick Settings has adopted round toggles just like we have in the latest Android P Developer Preview. Even the notifications are more rounded and card-like, which is another thing we have in Android P. The volume panel is now a vertical bar on the right-side of the screen, also like Android P. The recent apps list has also been changed from a horizontal view to a 2×2 card view. MIUI traditionally doesn't look much like stock Android, so this is an interesting development.
